Doctor:Yes, sure. Whose order is it?

Nurse:It's Mrs Lim. I wanted to check herfurosemideorder. I've got the medication chart here. Mrs Lim'sfurosemide dosewas increased from 20 mgs to 40 mgs after theward round. Is that correct?

Doctor:Yes. That's right. Is there a problem?

Nurse:Yes, there is. You didn't write in the newdose. Also. the order hasn't been signed and there's no frequency of dose written in either. I wanted to check with you first.

Doctor:Oh yes, thanks for

She's having a lot of breathing problems and her legs are quiteoedematous.

Nurse:Yeah, I thought that was what you wanted but I didn't want to assume anything. After all, that's how mistakes are made. And I'm not allowed to give the medication unless the order is correct. Could you just sign the order for me now, please? She'll be due for hermedicationin half an hour.
